About the Project
An urgent breakdown required a helical pinion shaft to be replaced as quickly as possible. Every day of downtime was costing the client dearly. The shaft had to be forged, heat treated, precision machined and gear cut to comply with rigorous standards, a process that under normal circumstances takes considerably longer than the timeframe available. There are no shortcuts when it comes to gear quality. The finished shaft would need to pass full CMM measurement to verify compliance.
We managed the entire process in-house – forging, heat treatment, machining and gear cutting – compressing what is typically a lengthy production sequence into just four to six weeks. Every stage was executed without compromising on precision, with final CMM inspection confirming full compliance to AGMA standards.
The shaft was delivered on time, and the client’s equipment was back in operation with minimal downtime. The project demonstrated our ability to mobilise quickly on critical breakdowns while still holding the quality and standards that precision gear components demand.
