About the Project
A 60-metre truss structure was required to support a conveyor system – a scale at which maintaining design tolerances becomes a serious fabrication challenge. At this size, standard fabrication processes typically struggle to hold the tight tolerances specified in the design, and historically, fabricators have fallen short on dimensional accuracy for structures this large.
We fabricated the full truss structure in-house, then used our large-scale CNC machines to precision-machine the critical interfaces and dimensions. This ability to machine large fabricated components, rather than relying on fabrication tolerances alone, is what allowed us to achieve the exact specifications the design demanded. It’s a capability that very few facilities can offer at this scale.
The truss was delivered to the precise tolerances specified. The project demonstrated how integrating large-scale machining with fabrication solves the tolerance challenges that come with heavily engineered structures of this size.
